Laptime

Privacy Policy

Last updated 31 October 2026

Laptime is a GPS lap timer. It is built so that timing laps on your own never leaves your phone. Data only reaches a server when you choose to share a track with other people.

On your phone only

Your tracks, every lap, its GPS trace, speed, G-forces and sector times are stored on your device. You need no account to use any of this, and none of it is sent anywhere.

Location is used only while a session is open or armed, to detect start, sector and finish lines. While a session is armed, Laptime keeps using location in the background so laps keep timing with the screen off. iOS shows the location indicator whenever this is happening, and it stops when you disarm or end the session.

When you share a track

Shared tracks need an account, created with Sign in with Apple. Apple tells us a stable identifier for you and, the first time only, your name. We store:

WhatWhyWho can see it
An account identifier from AppleTo know which laps and tracks are yoursNobody — internal only
Your display name (by default, your first name; you can change it)Shown next to your lapsPeople in tracks you share or join
Shared tracks: the route, start, sector and finish linesSo others can time laps on itPeople who have that track's code

The GPS trace of your best lap on each shared trackSo others can compare against it and see live deltaPeople in that track
Reports you sendModerationLaptime's moderators only

We do not receive your email address. If Apple's "Hide My Email" is on, we never see your real address at all.

Weather

When a lap finishes, Laptime asks Open-Meteo for the temperature and conditions at the track, so the lap can show the weather. That request includes the lap's approximate location and nothing that identifies you.

What we don't do

Where it is stored

Account and shared-track data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, which processes it only on our behalf. Access is restricted by the database itself: a request can only read tracks you belong to, and never laps from someone you have blocked or who has blocked you.

Blocking and reporting

You can report or block any driver from a shared track. Blocking hides each of you from the other everywhere in the app and removes them from tracks you own. You can undo it in Settings → Blocked Drivers. Reports are reviewed by Laptime's moderators, and the reported person is not told who reported them.

Deleting your data

Children

Laptime is not directed at children under 13 and is intended for use on closed circuits.
